Mahwah, NJ, derives its drinking water primarily (approx. 67-69%) from seven groundwater wells in the Ramapo River Valley-fill aquifer. The remaining ~31-32% of water is purchased from Suez Water New Jersey. The system serves roughly 25,000 residents and includes 12 total wells, with water disinfected before distribution.
Specific Pollutants: Elevated levels of chlorides and total dissolved solids (TDS) have been identified, particularly in the vicinity of industrial areas and sewage treatment plants.
